Tibetan: མཁན་པོ (mkhan-po)    Chinese: 堪布

Khenpo is a title in Tibetan Buddhism.

For Gelug monasteries, Khenpo means Abbot.

For other traditions, particularly in Nyingma, Kagyu and Sakya, Khenpo is a degree for higher Buddhist studies, comparable to Geshe in Gelug.
