Common Tibetan names usually have two elements of common Tibetan words. Many of these words can be give to either male or females with some specific to male or female. Family names, surnames, or clan names are not often used except for those with aristocratic ancestry. It is common for many Tibetans to have identical names.
藏名通常由兩個常用詞組成， 因此藏族社會中重名的現象很常見。這些詞有些男女可以通用，有些僅供男性或女性使用。 除了具有貴族血統的人外，藏人通常不使用姓氏。
