Ramoche Temple; 小昭寺; Tibetan: ར་མོ་ཆེ (Ramoche); Wylie: ra mo che;
Ramoche, built in 641, is considered to be the most important temple in the city after its sister temple, Jokhang. It is located east of the Potala and north of Jokhang. It housed the statue of Jowo Mikyo Dorje, a small bronze statue of the Buddha as a eight years old prince, crafted by Vishvakarman. It was brought to Tibet by Bhrikuti, Nepalese queen of King Songtsen Gambo.
小昭寺建於公元641年,相傳是文成公主親自奠基建造的,與大昭寺連稱「拉薩二昭」而馳名於世。位於拉薩古城以北,布達拉宮以東,大昭寺以北約一千米。最初命名為「漢虎神變寺」,小昭寺是漢語名稱;昭,是藏語「覺臥」的音譯,意思是佛。寺內供有赤尊公主從尼泊爾帶來的釋迦牟尼八歲等身赤金像及眾多的佛像和唐卡。
