Heruka; 黑魯嘎; Tibetan: ཁྲག་འཐུང (drag tung) ཧེ་རུ་ཀ (he ru ka) Wylie: khrag ‘thung; Sanskrit: Heruka;
Heruka is a category of wrathful deities in Vajrayana Buddhism often called wisdom king. It translates to Blood drinker in Chinese and Tibetan but the original Sanskrit term does not have this meaning. “He” means emptiness, “Ru” means bliss and “Ka” means union of Bliss and emptiness.
In Gulug tradition, Heruka usually refers to Chakrasamvara. Nyingma tradition has eight Herukas including Yamantaka, Hayagriva, Vishuddha, Mahottara, Vajrakilaya, Matarah, Lokastotrapuja-natha and Vajramantrabhiru.
黑魯嘎是佛教密續無上瑜伽部的忿怒本尊,義譯為飲血者,但梵文並沒有這個意思,”黑”代表空性,”魯”代表大樂,”嘎”代表大樂與空性的圓融。
格魯派的黑魯嘎主要是勝樂金剛。
